Potential new law clients for all matters, other than uncontested matters, start out with an initial consultation. Potential mediation clients may also choose to have an initial consultation, but this page is for potential law clients who are interested in hiring Elizabeth as a lawyer, not as a Family Mediator. Your first step in learning about your family law matter is to set up an hour long meeting with Elizabeth. During your meeting, Elizabeth will listen to you to learn about your case and determine the legal issues you need to resolve in order to meet your goals. She will provide an overview of the law as it pertains to your situation, and provide various strategies and suggestions for how you can achieve your desired outcome in your case within your budget. At the end of the consultation, you will have an opportunity to ask additional questions so that you will have a clear understanding of your options. Because each case is unique, Elizabeth is unable to quote attorney fees without first learning about your case and your objectives. If you decide to move forward with your case, Elizabeth will apply your consultation fee in full to your attorney fees, and if you decide not to hire our firm, the consultation will provide you with valuable information and attorney strategies, making the consultation investment a good value for anyone in need of family law help. Fees for Consultation The cost of the consultation is $250.00, payable at the time you schedule your appointment. Your consultation fee is fully refundable prior to the scheduled time for the consultation, by request. In the event of a no show, the fee is not refundable, but will be applied in full to a rescheduled consultation within three months. Declined Representation The consultation is your chance to interview Elizabeth before placing your trust and investing your money in what will obviously be a very important relationship. It is also a time for Elizabeth to ensure your case is a good fit for her practice. Not every potential client is a good fit for our firm. The quality of professional services we provide depends on our working with clients whose matters align with our expertise and practice philosophy, and who themselves are as committed to a successful outcome as we are. In the event we determine we are not a good fit, your consultation fee will be promptly refunded, and we will provide referrals to an attorney or mediator who we believe could better help you. We appreciate your interest in working with us, but Zoom Video Conference or Telephone Conference Your consultation will occur via Zoom video conference or telephone conference for your convenience and safety. You will meet without having to leave your home or office. After your consultation appointment is reserved, you will receive an invitation to the Zoom meeting or a confirmation that Elizabeth will initiate a call to you at the scheduled time for a telephone conference. Zoom meetings are preferred as this platform provides us with an opportunity to see one another face to face, and enables Elizabeth to share documents and screen images directly during the meeting. |
